Nintendo Supports 3DS with 3D Video Service

Now that the portable and glasses-free 3D 3DS gaming product is on the market, Nintendo is looking to enhance the attractiveness of the hand-held system by supporting it with a 3D video streaming service. The enthusiast website 3ds.nintendolife.com is reporting that at a recent Financial Earnings Briefing, Satoru Iwata, president and CEO of Nintendo, repeated the company's plans to provide 3DS owners with more than just 3D gaming entertainment. In the story the website says that after Nintendo updates the 3DS' OS in May the company will examine streaming 3D video that complements the glasses-free 3D technologies the gaming system employs. "We think it is very important to provide people with content in which they can easily experience glassless 3D images," he says in the story. "In particular, we need to enhance the content which can be enjoyed passively by non-active users, like a 3D video distribution service. We will promptly work on this after the currently planned hardware update. There is no easy road to making people understand the attraction of glassless 3D images and making Nintendo 3DS widespread.
