The first step for proponents of 3D in the home was to free up the content to allow consumers to view the video at home. Now with a growing library of 3D Blu-ray discs available to consumers and an increasing amount of broadcast content from service providers like DirecTV and Comcast available, the next step for 3D backers is to ensure the quality of the broadcast content. A story in Home Media magazine reports that Philip Corriveau, principal engineer for Intel and chair of the 3D@Home Consortium 's Human Factors Steering Team, gave a presentation in which he says the delivery pipeline for 3D must be improved in order to take advantage of the format's potential. "The chances of [content] making it in the same quality it was created are zero ... period," says Corriveau in the Home Media magazine story. "User expectations have changed significantly. They are paying for a service. It's critical we undersatand what their expectations are, if 3D is to accomplish what we want it to accomplish."
