What's Your Strategy?

What’s Your Strategy?

In the last blog, I wrote about the idea that the church is firstly corporate, and secondly “missions-minded.” Firstly, the church is corporate because the church is a body made up of individuals… not just individuals. Therefore, how we act in worship should affect our attitudes in worship and how we live our daily lives. This blog will focus on the fact that the church should be “missions-minded,” and should have a plan of action to impact the world for Christ.

When I think of what it means to be “missions-minded”, I think of an army of soldiers preparing for battle. An army does not just march into battle with no game plan. No, an army prepares for days, months, even years about what they need to do to accomplish their goals. They meet together as a team and strategize towards the end goal. In the same way, we as a church need to strategize together on how to win the lost to Christ. We should not march blindly into battle, hoping to get by with loose plans and tactics. Instead, we must realize the importance of the battle we are in.

Ephesians 6:12 states, “for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” There are evil forces out to destroy our efforts to impact our community as a church body. These same evil forces can use our lack of preparation for their good, and the church must do everything she can to prevent that from happening.

As a church, we often take times to take a step back and evaluate how we as a church body are impacting our community for Christ. We often call these times “retreats.” During these retreats however, we are not only resting and evaluating how we as a church body are impacting our community for Christ, we are also preparing and planning on how we can more effectively have an impact for Christ on our community. These times of gathering are times of strategies on how to best come together as a body of individuals, to share the love and hope of Christ with a lost and dying world…
